Nottingham Model Boat Club
Welcome to the new site for the Nottingham Model Boat Club.
The club is a group of members who all have an interest in model boats of all types, scale, sail, speed, and steam and we welcome others with a similar interest. Within the club we have a wide range of expertise to aid members pursue their interest whether you are just starting out or have experience in building and sailing model boats.
We meet regularly to sail at Colwick Park all year round and also at Highfields in the summer on Sunday mornings. Our hobby is engaging and satisfying but above all its about having fun, both in building models and also at a social level when we meet up.
Although Highfields is our historic home, access to sail has become a problem over the last few years so the club have negotiated a third venue, Attenborough Sailing Club, where members from the west of Nottingham can sail. The venue is open from March to December, seven days a week.
We welcome any sort of model boat and we hope that when you have seen the wide range of models we sail we will enhance your knowledge and understanding of model boating with all its diversities and variations.
Many of our members will build their own models either from scratch or from kits but it is increasingly popular for members to buy their models as "ready to run". Whichever, we are pleased to see you!
You may have a model that's been languishing in your attic for years and if you would like to resurrect it and see it on the water we are pleased to help.
The menu on the left consists of main headings and if there is an arrow next to the heading this indicates sub pages that can be opened by clicking on the arrow.
The NMBC AGM will be at the Calverton Working Men's Club on Sunday 5th February, 9.30 for 10.00. Refreshments will be available and the club bar will be open for any one who wants a beer afterwards. You will be able to pay your subscriptions on the day and receive your membership card. Note that the subscription for the 2023 year is £40.00.
