Bluenose
Length Hull 1.4 metres. Hull with bowsprit 1.55 metres
Also a plank on frame model from a kit. Nicely detailed and built with radio in mind, tubes in the keel allow for a fin and ballast to be fitted. This wasn’t my intention and I intended to fit a motor and prop to create a motor-sailor. Have a chat with me if you want to know more.
Bluenose was a working fishing boat from the turn of the last century which also had a successful racing history. The original no longer exists but a replica has been built. Google has a lot of information, worth a look.

Scolt Queen SOLD
Length 37” with rudder
This model was probably built in the 1970’s and based on steam launch originally built in 1906. The hull is “clinker” built where planks overlap each-other and is very well executed.
A single cylinder steam engine, possibly a Stuart Turner powers the model and the boiler looks to be “production” rather than home made. The condenser was added later. The fuel is spirit which is not generally used any more but I understand that gas burners are available to convert. There are forward and reverse gears operated by servo.
The fabric sun/rain shade is very tired and may clean but that skill set doesn’t exist in my workshop!! The model is in excellent overall condition but a couple of lagging planks on the boiler need some attention.

International Dragon
Length 1,340, weight 10.4Kg
Very nicely made model yacht using the “plank on frame” method. Building a model this way requires skill and patience and this hull is well executed. I have a nice set of cotton sails but she will need mast, booms, rigging and servo’s to complete.
There is minor damage to the deck where the winches (for scale) were fitted along the hatch but otherwise in good condition.

Robbe Smaragd. £250 SOLD
Length 1,370 meters and weight 12Kg
This is a “Ready to Run” model that includes battery and radio. I have sailed this model at Colwick so some members may recognise it. I have all the original paperwork including plans and build manual. This was an expensive kit in its day and is an attractive model that sails well.
Condition is not perfect but she’s in very good condition overall. There is scope for the new owner to make improvements if so inclined but otherwise she can be sailed as she is.

Robbe Atlantis. £150
Length 1,360 meters and weight 14Kg
Much work on this model is done including a nicely planked deck and I have all the parts to complete the model including build plans. The completed model has two masts and an unusual sail configuration but we have a completed model in the club and she sails well. I had plans to change to a single mast, gaff rig with twin foresails which I can explain further to the lucky buyer but the boat will come with new original sails, masts etc.

Metcalf Moonbeam. SOLD £150
Length 1,180 meters and weight 7,2Kg
This model is ballasted, the deck is fitted with deck houses and hull is painted. I have all the parts to complete including all the white metal fittings, sail winch and rudder servo are fitted. Original build manual comes with the model. When complete she flies an attractive gaff rig with twin foresails and has the same weed cheating underwater profile as my other J boats.

J Class. SOLD £200
Length 1,540 meters and weight 10Kg (expect about 12Kg when complete with rig)
This hull was originally laminated by Bob Underwood, a well known laminator from the 1970’s to the turn of the century and his hulls are held in high regard. The hull is ballasted with a planked deck and I have a set of very nicely made sails for a gaff rig with three foresails supported by a bowsprit.

Marblehead or 10 Rater. £350
Length 1,5 metres weight 10.4Kg
This hull is “plank on frame” and exquisitely made. The stand carries the number K3075 and name “Riot” so further enquiries could be made with the MYA. I admire the skill needed to create hulls to this standard but sadly most model builders with these skills are no longer with us. The hull has two sail winches and a rudder servo fitted and is only missing the rig.
